by Sylvana Jahre

“Critically Rethinking and Enacting Collaboration in the Context of a Museum: The Netzwerk Naturwissen” Sylvana Jahre (March 11–14, 2025)

Contribution to the panel Advancing Basic Research through Critical Collaborations at STS Hub 2025

As part of the STS Hub 2025, the panel Advancing Basic Research through Critical Collaborations explored how collaborative research formats can not only serve as social interventions but also generate important theoretical contributions to the field of Science and Technology Studies (STS). The conference, held under the theme Diffracting the Critical, focused on reimagining and enacting critique in times of multiple crises—through relational, transdisciplinary, and experimental approaches.

The presentation introduced the transdisciplinary project Netzwerk Naturwissen at the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin. The network approaches nature knowledge as a relational space that emerges through interactions between people, materials, and institutions. At its core is the practice of thinking with—an approach that understands knowledge production as collective, and open-ended process.
