"Let's eat!" was the motto of the workshop "Finding your nature through food" at the NABU Visitor Centre Rühstädt. At three locations in Brandenburg, participants and the project team met local producers and exchanged ideas about regional agriculture, production and knowledge of nature. Food was purchased from the producers and then prepared together in the garden of the NABU visitor centre. The shared preparation and meal provided a sensual, unhurried approach to our food and nature, which often takes a back seat in today's fast-paced world. Local food and knowledge of production and growing conditions play an important role in climate change mitigation and biodiversity conservation.
We also gained insight into how community-supported agriculture (CSA) works at the ‘Waldgarten’. At Schröder's Fishery we enjoyed fresh, local fish and learned about the fishermen's craft. In Rühstädt, fruit and eggs were collected and used to make cakes, which were then baked in the wood-fired bush oven.
